I am a Senior Consultant Knee, Sports Injury and Hip Specialist in Worcestershire. I have over 17 years' worth of consultant experience in all aspects of knee and hip surgery with over 4,000 joint replacements carried out, which has allowed me to learn from challenging cases and improve my techniques to improve patient outcomes. I have been trained extensively at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Oxford, which is a world-class centre of excellence. I have carried out advanced fellowship training in knee arthroscopy and anterior cruciate reconstruction.

My main interests include MAKO robotic assisted knee and hip replacement surgery using the latest minimally invasive techniques including day case hip and knee replacements (for patients meeting certain criteria) in addition to sports injuries of the knee and hip including meniscal and anterior cruciate injuries. I have a committed patient-centred approach leading to amongst the best outcomes in the country in knee and hip surgery.

I am one of the leading Mako robotic surgeons in Worcestershire, and carried out the first Mako hip and knee robotic-arm assisted joint replacements at Spire South Bank Hospital, with excellent outcomes.

I have a busy practice based on patient outcomes and recommendations and perform the most joint replacements in the region, (over 472 compared to national average of 132, 2021-2022 surgeon data on the National Joint Registry: surgeonprofile.njrcentre.org.uk). Nowadays, younger patients fulfil the criteria for joint replacement; some related to previous sports injuries. It is essential to continue to improve techniques.

I have visited leading centres in the USA including the Joint Replacement Institute in Los Angeles and the Rush Institute in Chicago to develop my skills; Prof John Timperley in Exeter to train in minimally invasive hip replacement (SPAIRE approach) and Mako hip robotic surgery. I undertook advanced fellowship knee and hip training in Oxford and Toronto to gain specific training in advanced techniques in knee, hip and sports injuries. I believe in minimally invasive bone conserving surgery with my latest research data showing results which are comparable with the best in the country.

I have extensive experience in clinical governance and in improving patient outcomes. I have extensive experience in the Oxford minimally Invasive unicompartmental knee replacement having worked closely with the designers; I provide orthopaedic support to Worcester based football, rugby, basketball and netball teams, treating both professional and amateur athletes.

I am also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Worcester in Sports and Exercise Science.

I have a YouTube channel where I provide information and detailed explanations of how Robotic surgery works and the benefits of opting for this type of surgery. My YouTube channel can be accessed at the following link:

Consultant Knee, Sports Injury and Hip Specialist, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust

I was born in Oxford and moved to Worcestershire to take up my consultant position. I have two young children. While my family occupies the majority of my time, I have a wide variety of interests including most sports (particularly football, cricket and rugby), DIY, literature and music.

I am involved in various educational courses for surgical trainees. I believe surgeons have a duty to provide the highest quality of care at all times.
