After my specialisation in General Surgery, I was trained in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery in the Surgical Department (Centre of Excellence for bariatric surgery) of the Krankenhaus Sachsenhausen, Frankfurt, Germany.

I further developed my skills regarding laparoscopic hiatal surgery and bariatric surgery as Senior Clinical Fellow in the Upper GI Unit at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham.

Since August 2013 I have been working as a consultant in the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (Heartlands and Good Hope hospitals), with my main interests being laparoscopic benign upper GI and bariatric surgery.

I have published widely regarding laparoscopic surgery, receiving more than 1,200 citations so far, including pioneer research regarding action mechanisms of Sleeve Gastrectomy.
