Mr Andre Jackowski

Consultant Neurosurgeon (Spinal surgery)

Specialises in

I was born in Cheshire, England and trained at University College London obtaining a first class honours and the top degree in my year. I completed my neurosurgical training at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queens Square London and Charing Cross Hospital London.

I have been a consultant spinal surgeon in Birmingham since 1992 and the past clinical director of spinal services at the Birmingham Spinal Centre of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham and Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham.

I am the lead spinal surgeon at the private Birmingham Spinal Clinic and a recognised expert in spinal surgery. I was cited in 2011 in the Times Magazine’s prestigious Britain’s top 50 surgeons guide. I am a past president of the cervical spine research society and the British Cervical Spine Society.

I am regarded as one of the most experienced surgeons in my field and my opinion on spinal cases is regularly sought from others. I am clinically and academically active in my speciality and perform a wide variety of spinal surgical procedures, from simple lumbar disc surgery to complex spinal operations for spinal and intradural tumours. I treat the full range of degenerative, traumatic and neoplastic spinal pathologies. My surgical experience is however tempered with a reputation for a conservative approach whenever possible in the first instance.

Whilst having a busy surgical practice in Birmingham, I have an internationally recognised reputation and both lecture and give hands-on spinal operative teaching regularly to surgeons throughout Europe.

Past Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
