Professional profile

I have very extensive experience having been a consultant physician in Birmingham since 1985. I worked at City Hospital, Dudley Road until 1998 then moved across the city to Heartlands Hospital. At Heartlands I have helped to develop the West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre. This included many charity events which I helped to organise, raising £1.75 million.

I have developed a strong NHS practice working at Heartlands, Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic. I was, until recently, Clinical Director for respiratory medicine over a six year period and managed major changes and improvements in the service including many at Solihull Hospital. I have a strong interest in medical education and continues that interest at the Royal College of Physicians in London.

I have had a national profile in respiratory medicine holding several posts and chairing committees for the British Thoracic Society. I also have an active interest in medico-legal work.
