Professional profile

I completed my specialist registration from the Birmingham Midlands Eye Centre in 2009. I am one of the very few consultant ophthalmic surgeons who is dual trained in oculoplastic surgery and paediatric ophthalmology.

I have undertaken two fellowships in oculoplastics; one at the University Hospitals of Leicester and the second at the prestigious Moorefields Eye Hospital, London.

I completed my paediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Following my appointment as a consultant to the Nottingham University Hospitals in June 2010, I undertook further specialist training for two months at the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, Canada and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA.

My clinical interests are in the surgical and medical management of adult patients with cataracts and general ophthalmic eye conditions; eyelid malpositions like ptosis, entropion, ectropion, cosmetic and functional dermatochalasis - requiring blepharoplasty, periocular skin tumours, watery eyes, thyroid related eyelid abnormalities, eyelid and adnexal trauma and patients with socket related problems.

My paediatric expertise lies in paediatric ptosis management including levator resections and frontalis brow suspensions with autologus facia lata and synthetic materials, paediatric watery eye management and routine and complex socket surgery. I also manage children with anophthalmia and microphthalmia.
