I am a Consultant General Surgeon and hold an NHS post at the Nottingham University Hospitals. I studied at University of Nottingham Medical School.I am an enthusiast and leading proponent of Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Surgery and have pioneered a number of procedures in the East Midlands.I have been President of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons and on the Councils of the British Obesity Surgery Society and Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons.I run local and national training courses for hernia and gallstone surgery. I am an examiner in the final fellowship surgery exams.

I am a keen supporter of Rugby Union and played and Captained School, Medical School and University teams.  I enjoy the mountains, hill walking, climbing and am an enthusiastic skier both on and off-piste.  In Nottingham, I enjoy the theatre, cooking and have taken up Olympic Lifting.  I am learning French – slowly!
