Having graduated from Nottingham Medical School in 1998, I completed basic and higher surgical training in the Trent region, developing an early interest in the field of urological cancer. In 2002 I was awarded a scholarship from the British Urological Foundation and completed a period of clinical research into the treatment of bladder cancer, leading to the award of an MD. Following this I completed the first of two overseas fellowships in Auckland, New Zealand. After the completion of my higher surgical training in 2010 I completed a year long fellowship in Western Australia, consolidating my interest in urological cancer, robotic and minimally invasive cancer surgery.
Upon returning to the UK, I was appointed as a Consultant in 2012. Since then I have established a busy practice, providing expert care in prostate, bladder and upper urinary tract cancer, together with comprehensive treatments for all areas of general urology.
I was one of the first surgeons in the East Midlands to offer DaVinci robotic prostatectomy, in the treatment of prostate cancer. Over the last decade I have successfully performed several hundred robotic surgeries, leading a highly experienced dedicated theatre team.
I have a passion for surgical training and enjoy teaching undergraduate medical students and surgical trainees. I provide fellowship training to surgeons from around the world in DaVinci robotic prostatectomy.
I provide subspecialist care in prostate, renal and bladder cancer with a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, robotic and laparoscopic surgery. I also offer a comprehensive range of treatments covering all areas of general urology, such as bladder outflow obstruction, lower urinary tract symptoms, benign disease of the prostate and penile/scrotal conditions. Specific procedures offered include the following:
DaVinci robotic prostatectomy, transperineal template biopsies, kidney removal (nephrectomy), kidney and ureter removal (nephroureterectomy), laparoscopic surgery, open renal surgery, diagnostic ureteroscopy, bladder examination (cystoscopy), flexible cystoscopy, open bladder surgery, Bladder biopsy, endoscopic treatment of bladder lesion (TURBT), bladder stone removal, transurethral resection of prostate (TURP), urethral stricture surgery (optical urethrotomy), urethral dilation, circumcision, frenuloplasty, biopsy/removal of penile lesion, vasectomy, removal of testicular cancer (radical orchidectomy), testicular implant insertion, epididymal cyst excision, hydrocele surgery, orchidopexy, varicocele treatment.
