BM, MD, FRCS(Eng)
I have been working in the field of general surgery for 16 years and have been employed as a consultant general and transplant surgeon in Nottingham since 2022. I primarily work at the City hospital and subspecialise in kidney transplant surgery in both adults and children. Aside from kidney transplantation, I have extensive expertise in hernia surgery.
With most kidney transplants being done out of normal working hours, my elective (planned) surgical practice primarily comprises groin and abdominal wall hernias, gallbladder surgery and removal of smaller benign skin lesions (cysts, lipomas and/or skin tags).
I have performed over 600 groin and abdominal wall hernia repairs in my career to date and continue to perform these operations on a weekly basis as part of my NHS work.
I am a member of both the British Transplant Society and the British Hernia Society.
I am clinical governance lead for my department as well as lead for paediatric surgery. In the national forum I am the Nottingham representative for organ utilisation and also sit on the paediatric subgroup of the kidney advisory group committee.
