Miss Carrie Martin

Women's Health Physiotherapist

BSc Hons Physiotherapy, MCSP MPOGP MHCPC

Specialises in

I graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2012, and I have worked in both the private and public sector. Having gained experience in lots of different areas of physiotherapy, I found my love for Pelvic Health around six years ago. Most of my pelvic health specialist training was completed while on rotation at Nottingham University Hospitals. This allowed me to work alongside experienced clinical specialists, gynecologists and obstetricians treating a range of different pelvic health conditions.

I completely moved over to working within the private sector in 2022, and have been part of the team at Spire Nottingham Hospital since the beginning of 2023.

Alongside my work here, I also help to teach pelvic health on the undergraduate program at The University of Leicester. I co deliver pregnancy and post-natal education and fitness workshops, plus separate education sessions to other health and fitness professionals, and have been a guest speaker on health and wellbeing podcasts. I am also a member of the POGP (Pelvic, obstetric and gynaecological physiotherapy)

I am a mum of one, a keen runner, and a previous sufferer of pelvic floor dysfunction. I understand the complexities faced with female pelvic health, and the often arduous task of post-natal recovery. I know that it can feel embarrassing to talk about some symptoms, and often people may have waited a while before speaking out or seeking help.

At Spire Nottingham Hospital, every patient is treated with sensitivity, care and compassion, in a private and comfortable room. Most pelvic health conditions are extremely common, with 1 in 3 women experiencing incontinence at some point in their lifetime. That being said, these things should never be considered normal, and there is so much that we can do to help you here at Spire Nottingham Hospital.
