I specialise in the treatment of benign gynaecology and gynaecological cancers affecting the ovaries, fallopian tubes, womb, cervix, vulva and vagina. Apart from minor diagnostic procedures such as hysteroscopy, colposcopy and vulval excisions, I am experience in both laparoscopic and open procedures for women who require ovarian cyst removal and hysterectomy.

To date, I have carried out in excess of 200 hysterectomy including complex dissection involving lymph node sampling as a consultant. These include laparoscopic and open procedures. I have also performed 25 laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and latterly due to the findings of an international trial, I have done 20 open radical hysterectomy.

I also perform diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, removal of abnormal cells from the cervix (LLETZ) on a regular basis. Apart from these, my interest lies in ovarian cancer surgery. These are multi-organ resection which I carry out on a fortnightly basis.

I obtained the MRCOG in 2011 and have been awarded CCT in obstetrics and gynaecology having completed run-through training in East Midlands Deanery, UK. Following completion of subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology, I have been a consultant in this field at Nottingham University Hospitals for more than three years. My experience as a consultant at Nottingham has given me exposure to managing mainstay as well as complex gynaecological cancers.

Working with interdisciplinary teams such as colorectal and hepatobiliary for complex resections have instilled more surgical grounding in multi-visceral ovarian cancer surgery which I perform. I am currently undertaking training in robotic surgery for gynae cancer patients.

I am currently in charge of the surgical scheduling for gynae-oncology department. This is a complex weekly task between administrative and clinicians in order to list and schedule patients based on priority and needs. As a consultant, I have continued my role to oversee the organization of monthly morbidity and mortality meetings as well as case review of ultra-radical surgery. These meetings aim to update the team on operative complications, review of cases as well as prevention strategies and current evidence of best practice.

My management role also extends to updating departmental guidelines such as the management of cervical cancers, in line with European guidance and recommendations. I have also streamlined pathways by writing guidelines within NUH for initial management and subsequent referrals of patients with suspected or confirmed diagnosis of pseudomyxoma peritonei.
