I qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 1994 and after postgraduate training in the UK and South Africa, I completed a Medical Research Council (MRC) funded PhD in gastroenterology in 2005. I then undertook specialty training in liver transplantation and endoscopy at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, Australia.
I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust since 2008. I manage patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver problems both through outpatients and emergency presentations to hospital.
I regularly serve as lead or teaching faculty at regional, national and international endoscopy training courses, and lead the endoscopy fellowship training programme in Nottingham.
Following 4 years as Head of Service for Gastroenterology and Hepatology until 2018, I am now HPB endoscopy lead in Nottingham.
I am involved in clinical trials and have published book chapters and over 40 academic papers in gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy.
