I am a consultant cardiologist and have practiced for more than 30 years at Nottingham University Hospitals. I thus have a wealth of experience in all aspects of heart disease including very rare conditions.

I understand that any heart symptoms can be very worrying and sadly everything is very rushed in the NHS, in particular communicating information. I therefore offer a long first patient appointment of 50 minutes to allow plenty of time for you to voice any concerns and to ask important questions about your symptoms. I encourage you to bring a partner, relative or friend to help listen and understand.

I am happy to see patients with a variety of symptoms and conditions including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, fainting, blackouts, heart murmurs, raised cholesterol, abnormal ECGs and blood pressure. I can also provide a heart check up. A GP referral is not necessary although can be helpful. I will not have access to any NHS information so please bring any letters, summaries, results including any ECGs and an up to date prescription list.

Over my career I have performed many thousands each of stents, pacemakers, defibrillators and ablations with a very high success rate and low complication rate. I performed some of these first procedures in Nottingham and at the Nottingham Spire hospital. All my results have been audited by the Central Cardiac Audit Database and have confirmed this. Since 2024 I have stopped doing invasive procedures because of my seniority but still give advice and guidance to younger colleagues. I am happy to refer to one of my colleagues if an operation is required.

I am a caring doctor and a good listener which is reflected in excellent feedback from patients and colleagues. I practice up to date and evidence based cardiology and continue to attend education meetings on new treatments and research. I regularly provide and contribute my experience and opinion of patient management at weekly multi disciplinary meetings at Trent Cardiac Centre. I have been principal investigator for large numbers of heart studies and have published widely on many aspects of heart disease including stents, pacemakers, ablation and anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation.
