How to make a referral

Our Primary Care Liaison team will work closely with you, to help provide the highest level of service. Our Purpose is to make a positive difference to people’s lives through outstanding personalised care.

You can refer your private patients to Spire Norwich Hospital:

Online referrals

Spire Connect

Spire Connect is the quickest way to make a referral. The patient referral portal offers a fully secure, fast, easy and free way for GPs, practice staff and healthcare professionals to refer patients to Spire hospitals. As well as making secure online referrals for a broad range of treatments, tests and scans, Spire Connect provides many other benefits:

  • Email confirmation once your referral is submitted and processed
  • Allows you to send secure patient notes in a convenient format
  • Allows you to review your submitted referral and patient notes

If you’re new to Spire Connect register or contact Debbie Thorpe, Primary Care Liaison at Spire Norwich Hospital who will be more than happy to assist with registration and provide a tutorial of the portal, either over the phone or via Zoom.

Telephone referrals

Alternatively, you can refer your private patients to us via telephone. To book an appointment or for more information call us on 01603 255 574.

A referral letter is required from you before any insured patient can be seen by a consultant. Patients may call our outpatient booking team on 01603 255 574 to arrange a convenient appointment.

Self-funding patients are able to be seen by a consultant without a GP referral, although a letter is often preferred. Diagnostic imaging referrals

All requests for diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray etc) require a signed imaging request form. Patients wishing to enquire about the costs or appointment availability may contact our diagnostics booking team on 01603 255 531.

Physiotherapy appointments

Patients wishing to self-fund for physiotherapy do not require a referral letter from their GP, although a referral is preferred. Patients using private medical insurance may require a referral from their GP to validate their insurance. Patients wishing to enquire about physiotherapy fees, classes or appointment availability may contact our physiotherapy department on 01603 255 587.
