Professional profile

Mr Burbos has been a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital since 2012. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the East of England Deanery, including two years of sub-specialty training in Gynaecological Oncology at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He also completed a secondment at the Belfast City Hospital where he developed his expertise in advanced laparoscopic surgery.

His main areas of clinical expertise include: diagnosis and management of gynaecological cancers, colposcopy, management of irregular vaginal bleeding, postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and vulval conditions.

Mr Burbos is a highly skilled laparoscopic surgeon and, since joining the Norfolk and Norwich team, has significantly advanced the array of surgical options available to patients. He has also special training in extensive surgery for patients diagnosed with ovarian cancer and, in recognition of his expertise, he has been invited to teach colleagues at both national and international workshops.

Alongside his clinical work Mr Burbos is keen to advance his practice through research. He has published several papers in international gynaecological journals and presented his work at national and international conferences. His main areas of research interest include: development of pathways for the management of women with postmenopausal bleeding, ovarian cancer surgery and postmenopausal hormone therapy. He is also a reviewer for various medical journals.
