I have been a consultant in Norwich for over 20 years, having trained mainly in London, Norwich and Australia and enjoy a busy clinical practice of general orthopaedics and trauma surgery. The greater part of this practice consists of major joint replacement surgery and I have carried out over 5,000 hip and knee replacements. I am particularly stimulated by complex revision problems of the hip.
I have been the orthopaedic department’s Clinical Director, examined for the Intercollegiate Speciality Board in Orthopaedics for the Royal College of Surgeons and reviewed for a number of journals including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Hip International. I carry out Invited Reviews for the Royal College of Surgeons and Fitness to Practice Assessments on behalf of the General Medical Council.
In 2010 I was rated as one of the best hip surgeons in the country by 50 other senior hip surgeons.
After 6 years as the Honorary Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the British Hip Society, I served as Vice President and President Elect before taking on the role of President of The British Hip Society in 2015-2016. I am now the chairman of the Consultant Staff at The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
