I have been a consultant in Norwich for over 20 years, having trained mainly in London, Norwich and Australia and enjoy a busy clinical practice of general orthopaedics and trauma surgery. The greater part of this practice consists of major joint replacement surgery and I have carried out over 5,000 hip and knee replacements. I am particularly stimulated by complex revision problems of the hip.
I have been the orthopaedic department’s Clinical Director, examined for the Intercollegiate Speciality Board in Orthopaedics for the Royal College of Surgeons and reviewed for a number of journals including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Hip International. I carry out Invited Reviews for the Royal College of Surgeons and Fitness to Practice Assessments on behalf of the General Medical Council.
In 2010 I was rated as one of the best hip surgeons in the country by 50 other senior hip surgeons.
After six years as the Honorary Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the British Hip Society, I served as Vice President and President Elect before taking on the role of President of The British Hip Society in 2015-2016.
I am now the chairman of the Consultant Staff at The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
