An initial consultation with Mr Am Rai is from £250.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Am Rai at Spire include:
I graduated from Southampton University in 1990. I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic/Spinal Surgeon at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and Spire Norwich Hospital, Norwich since April 2001. Most of my training was undertaken in the South of England and Spinal Fellowships in Australia, South Africa, America and Europe. I was also awarded a European Travelling Fellowship in 2002. This gave me the opportunity to gain personal training from some of the most eminent spinal surgeons gaining a depth and breadth of experience that has formed the basis of my personal expertise.
My spinal practice is broad based, including all aspects of spinal pathology, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar disc disease, adult and paediatric scoliosis, trauma and tumour reconstruction. I have a very busy clinical practice receiving referrals from all over East Anglia. I work closely with other specialities which include physiotherapy, pain clinic, oncologists, neurologists and rheumatologists to be able to offer a multi-disciplinary approach to the management of spinal conditions and further afield. (I am involved in 500-600 operative cases a year).
I am the author of many original research papers into spinal conditions. I have also featured in newspaper articles and have been the subject of a documentary on the Discovery Channel for the innovative work performed at The Norfolk & Norwich Foundation Hospital NHS Trust. I regularly attend spinal meetings and give lectures both on the national and international circuit.
Other positions I hold are: Spinal surgeon to Norwich City Football Club, Director of Spinal Aid Charity, Foundation Programme Director of Norwich Hospital, Honorary Contracts: Addenbrooke's Teaching Hospital, Cambridge, Ipswich Hospital, Suffolk, Cure International Hospital, Lusaka, Zambia, Africa
General Medical Council Number: C3454585
