Mr Emmet Griffiths

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow surgery and have a private practice at Spire Norwich Hospital in the county of Norfolk.

Much of my shoulder surgery is performed arthroscopically (keyhole) helping patients to recover faster. This includes repairs to the tendons of the shoulder (rotator cuff), arthroscopic release for frozen shoulder and arthroscopic stabilisation procedures. I also carry out a large number of shoulder replacement surgeries.  Other conditions that I treat include shoulder impingement, shoulder arthritis, disorders of the biceps and sports injury.

I provide a full range of elbow surgery including the surgical management of arthritis of the elbow, tennis/golfers elbow and surgery on the ulnar nerve. My practice also sees a large number of trauma patients, so therefore I offer a specialist upper limb trauma service. This includes the management of both fractures and ligaments around the shoulder, elbow and forearm.

I perform approximately 400 arthroscopic shoulder surgeries each year across both my NHS and Private practice.

I was appointed as a consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a specialist interest in the Shoulder and Elbow at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in August 2015. I successfully completed my higher surgical training in the East of England which included two years at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I then completed a comprehensive shoulder and elbow fellowship at the world renowned Wrightington Hospital. I have further augmented my training with several visitations to European centre of excellence in Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
