Since my appointment as a consultant in 1999, I have continued to develop expertise in all aspects of adult and paediatric otolaryngology with particular interest in cancer surgery, thyroid and parotid lesions, and endoscopic sinus surgery.
Following graduation from medical school in 1986, I embarked on basic surgical training in otolaryngology (head and neck) and general surgery initially in various teaching hospitals in London. After obtaining my fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in otolaryngology, I started higher surgical training in otolaryngology in East Anglia for two years.
In my final year of training, I undertook a clinical fellowship in head and neck oncology and reconstructive surgery at the University of Miami, Florida. During this time I received intensive training in all aspects of otology and rhinology. I then commenced a training rotation in the North of Scotland which supplemented my experience in advanced head and neck surgery including free flap and microvascular reconstruction.
I am also actively involved in audit, research and teaching of undergraduates, postgraduates and GP (general practitioners).

Personal profile
I have several extra curricular activities outside medicine including travel, music and socialising. I enjoy most sports particularly cricket, tennis and snooker, and, when the opportunity arises, which unfortunately is seldom nowadays, I enjoy playing chess.
I am also is interested in foreign culture and customs, and having lived and worked in United Kingdom, United States and India, I have been fortunate to develop an insight into a variety of rituals and conventions.
