I am an ENT / Thyroid Surgeon with an NHS practice at Wythenshawe Hospital. I am also the Clinical Director for theatres at Manchester Foundation Trust and the MAC ENT Lead at Spire Cheshire Hospital.

I have performed over 5,000 operations and regularly contribute to national audits with excellent outcomes. I treat a wide range of ENT problems some of which include adenoidectomy, antral washout, nasal polypectomy, aryngology, paediatric otolaryngology, rhinology, sinus surgery, sleep disorders, swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) treatment and specialist thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

I graduated from the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford and commenced my surgical training in London, moving to Manchester as an ENT registrar from 2004 - 2011. I spent a year in 2010 in Adelaide, Australia on a prestigious international fellowship with Professor Simon Carney and Dr Sam Robinson where I was able to devote time to advanced rhinology training and developed my expertise in the surgical treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea.

I am passionate about teaching. I participate in regular audit and I regularly evaluate the outcome of my surgery. Every facet of my clinical work is underpinned by the desire to provide high-quality, safe healthcare and I hugely appreciate the feedback and testimonials that my patients provide.

I believe in conservative management ahead of surgery and in formulating a unique treatment plan for every patient based on both their disease and individual wishes and circumstances.

Tinnitus: symptoms, causes and treatment

Mr Jonathan Hobson, Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon, says tinnitus is a noise that a sufferer can hear but no one else can. Tinnitus can last for minutes or up to several weeks, and some people suffer from it permanently. Mr Hobson recommends seeing a specialist for tinnitus management and treatment if it is affecting your sleep, affecting your job and generally causing you significant problems.
