I am a fully qualified plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon and I am on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery. I currently hold an NHS consultant post at the Christie Hospital in Manchester and I've held this post for the last three years. I have also been appointed as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester and I'm active in teaching and research in the field of plastic surgery.

I graduated from medical school in 1996 and then spent the next five years obtaining a wealth of experience in a variety of surgical specialties such as general surgery, neurosurgery and thoracic surgery before embarking onto a career in plastic surgery. This wealth of experience in the other fields of surgery has had a immensely positive impact on my plastic surgical career. I have over 13 years of experience in plastic surgery.

I am a director of surgicalillustration.com Limited, a surgical education company.

I was appointed a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2002 and subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Plastic Surgery) in 2010.

I have contributed significantly to plastic surgery literature with well over 30 publications in top plastic surgery journals. I have presented papers at national and international meetings and have also been invited to speak at national and international meetings.

I'm the author of a plastic surgery textbook, 'Local Flaps in Plastic Surgery'.

I have also developed an app for iPhones/iPads for teaching plastic surgical trainees the art and science of local flaps, a fundamental technique used in plastic surgery.
