Specialises in
I have been a consultant urologist since 2021 with a particular interest in Uro-oncology and complex pelvic reconstruction. I practice open and robotic pelvic surgery and am well versed in core urological clinical presentations and surgical interventions.
I specialise in the diagnosis and assessment of core urological complaints including problems with male lower urinary tract symptoms, male and female incontinence, loin pain, haematuria, urinary stone disease, vasectomy requests, testicular lumps/pain, prostate cancer diagnostics and foreskin abnormalities.Ā I have particular interests in the assessment and management of bladder and prostate cancer.
I provide a personal and bespoke consultation to the needs of the individual in a professional and courteous manner. I strive to provide explanation and understanding for the condition in question, promoting patient-centred care and empowered treatment decisions.
Within my NHS urological practice I have performed in escess of 500 circumcisions, hydrocele repairs, vasectomies, orchidectomies and epididymal cyst excisions. Due to my interest in pelvic oncology, I undertake large volumes of transurethral bladder cancer resections (~250). I have undertaken >150 diagnostic or therapeutic ureteroscopies and >100 Transurethral prostatectomy procedures. I have further undertaken > 100 major complex pelvic cancer or reconstructive procedures in isolation or as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team.
Within my NHS practice I was appointed Clinical Director in June 2022. This challenging role has tested problem solving and leadership skills during one of the most challenging times the NHS has been through. I have also held the position of module lead for the annual national urological trainee boot camp course.
Within my clinical practice, I have developed the role of research lead which follows on from a successful Doctorate of Medicine (MD) during my specialist registrar training. I am principle investigator to 3 ongoing trials and am working on a number of publications, prospective studies and simulation developments. I am looking towards establishing a regional research network to support greater adoption of clinical trials within our practice.
I am currently pelvic lead within my NHS urology department. This role has enabled me to develop a robotic bladder service and coordinate the care of complex cancer and benign conditions. I work closely with the intestinal failure team and am often involved in challenging multi-specialty operating. I have also developed a benign reconstructive clinic to support the planning and delivery of benign major reconstructive pelvic intervention.
