Professional profile

I qualified as a Paediatrician from premier teaching institutions in Mumbai, India and underwent further specialist postgraduate training in paediatrics and paediatric nephrology in the UK for eight years. I was appointed as a Consultant Paediatrician in 2003 and am currently based at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

My day-to-day work includes outpatient elective consultations, assessment of acutely unwell children either referred by GPs or self-presenting to hospital, and inpatient acute/emergency management of sick children. I also provide support to various surgical and medical specialties for general paediatric overview of complex need patients’ care.

I will see referrals for common conditions in general paediatrics, paediatric nephrology and paediatric bone diseases. These include fevers, fits and faints, constipation, recurrent diarrhoea, headaches, abdominal pain, general aches/pains, recurrent cough, asthma, eczema, respiratory infections, urine infections, recurrent other infections, growth concerns, day/night wetting, infant feeding difficulties, bone pains, rickets, hypermobility etc.

I will see children from one month to 16 years of age. My consultations are child centred and conducted in a friendly and relaxed environment. I can offer regular consultation appointments, but would also be available to see patients on an urgent basis if required. I conduct consultations in English, and I am also fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati and Marathi languages.

Apart from clinical practice, I have keen interests in postgraduate education and research. I have been Clinical Lead in Paediatrics for four years.
