I am a Consultant Cardiologist and the Lead for Cardiac Imaging at the East Lancashire NHS Trust since 2015.
I regularly see patients with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, ankle / leg swelling and blackouts in my clinics. Imaging of the heart is crucial in establishing the diagnosis, be it angina, heart failure, coronary artery disease or arrhythmias. Accordingly, I perform weekly sessions of cardiac MRI, CT coronary angiograms and all aspects of both transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) in my routine clinical practice.
I qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2002, on the background of a distinction BMedSci (Hons) for my research in thrombosis in 1999 which I presented internationally. My Cardiology training was through several national centres of excellence in London and Manchester.
My research work in Cardiology has been recognised and honoured with several distinguished international awards, including from the American Heart Association (2013) and Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (2014). I received my MD degree from UCL (London) in 2015 and to date, I have over 20 publications to my name in peer-reviewed medical journals, with the second highest ResearchGate score in the entire ELHT NHS Trust.
