I am a Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in urogynaecology, prolapse, pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary tract infections.
I qualified as a Medical Doctor from University College Dublin, National University of Ireland. During my training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Ireland, I became avidly interested in the field of urogynaecology. I obtained a research fellowship in the Department of Pelvic Floor Surgery at the University of Michigan, USA with Professor John DeLancey. My research and medical doctorate was in pelvic floor imaging and the pathogenesis of childbirth related pelvic floor injury.
I completed my subspecialty training in urogynaecology at University College Hospital, London with a strong focus on laparoscopic urogynaecology. Following this I was appointed as a Consultant Gynaecologist to Addenbrooke's Hospital. After 8 years as a Consultant in Cambridge, I relocated to Manchester as a Consultant Urogynaecologist at St Mary's Hospital.
I’m involved in and lead research and quality improvement projects on prolapse, bowel function after delivery and urinary incontinence. I have a keen interest in developing patient and public involvement in research.
