Spire London East Hospital awarded Gold Level for commitment to patient safety by the National Joint Registry

Spire London East Hospital is proud to announce that it has been awarded Gold Level NJR Quality Data Provider status for 2025, following its successful compliance with the National Joint Registry’s (NJR) rigorous data quality audit programme.

The NJR monitors the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow, and shoulder joint replacement operations across the UK to improve clinical outcomes for patients, clinicians, and the wider healthcare industry. By collecting and analysing high-quality orthopaedic data, the NJR supports patient safety, drives improvements in standards of care, and promotes cost-effectiveness in joint replacement surgery.

The NJR Quality Data Provider scheme was introduced to recognise hospitals that achieve excellence in data completeness and accuracy, key factors in ensuring patient safety. Awards are granted to hospitals that meet ambitious targets during the annual audit period, including compliance with mandatory national audits, maintaining a minimum baseline of 95% data completeness, and demonstrating timely responses to any alerts related to patient safety.

Hospitals that achieve NJR award status are recognised publicly, with the award emblem displayed on the NJR’s Surgeon and Hospital Profile website, which publishes annual orthopaedic volume data for all hospitals performing joint replacement procedures. Spire London East Hospital will also proudly display its certificate onsite and share this achievement with staff and patients.
