I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. I serve as the Kidney Stone and Endourology Lead at this renowned institution, where I have been a consultant for over 10 years. As a high-volume kidney stone surgeon, I am highly specialised in this field.
I am experienced in all aspects of kidney stone treatment, including shockwave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy with laser, and PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy), including miniaturised PCNL. I am fully independent in establishing PCNL tract access.
I run a specialist Metabolic Kidney Stone Clinic aimed at reducing kidney stone recurrence. This involves an individualised approach focusing on diet and lifestyle, combined with specialist blood and urine tests. Specific areas are explored in depth to help reduce future kidney stone events.
I also collaborate with colleagues on highly complex cases that benefit from robotic surgery using the Da Vinci Xi Robotic System.
With subspecialist expertise in kidney stone management at a tertiary teaching hospital, I am a high-volume surgeon. I have performed over 3,000 operations for kidney stones, ranging from minimally invasive endoscopic ureteroscopy and laser surgery (which does not involve any cuts) to more complex keyhole PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) procedures.
I also carry out operations for the management of blood in urine and urinary symptoms, including camera inspection of the bladder (cystoscopy).
I have always been passionate about teaching and training. I currently serve as the Education Lead for Urology at The Royal London Hospital. In addition, I am on the faculty for subspecialist training courses and have been invited to teach and lecture on complex surgical techniques both in the UK and internationally.
I maintain a strong academic background through presentations at international meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
