Specialises in
I am a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at King's College Hospital, one of the most prestigious teaching hospitals in London. I am an expert in glaucoma and cataract surgery and have more than 10 years' experience in this field.
I specialise in the medical and surgical management of all types of adult glaucoma, including cutting edge minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, trabeculectomy and aqueous shunt devices, glaucoma revision surgery and complex cataract surgery.
I also offer premium intraocular lenses for my cataract patients, including toric lenses to correct astigmatism and multifocal lenses to reduce spectacle dependence for near and distance.
I am an honorary clinical senior lecturer in ophthalmology at King's College London and at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, London.
In addition to my clinical work, I have a passion for translational clinical research and I am currently the Principal Investigator for a large prospective study between Moorfields and King's College Hospital investigating the role of mitochondrial function as a novel biomarker for glaucoma. I am also the Principal Investigator at King's for several multicentre interventional clinical trials in glaucoma and other observational studies.
Based on my innovative clinical research in glaucoma at University College London and at Oxford University I have unique expertise in cellular bioenergetics in glaucoma and its relevance to the development of new glaucoma treatments.
I have served as a Member of the European Glaucoma Panel IV and Mentoring Programme and I am a regular examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. National Awards: IGA/UKEGS Research Award: Identifying the genetic basis for heritable normal tension glaucoma, with a focus on mitochondrial function. Fight for Sight New Lecturer Award: Systemic mitochondrial function as a clinically useful novel biomarker for open angle glaucoma.
