Professional profile

I have been an ENT and Head and Neck Surgeon for the last 24 years and have received very extensive and broad based training in India and UK. I completed my medical graduation (MBBS) and post graduation (Masters in Surgery – Otolaryngology) in Delhi, India from a premier institution and a major referral centre in North of India. I then moved to UK for further training in ENT, and I have completed higher surgical training in ENT and am on the Specialist register for ENT in UK. My clinical training includes a very well rounded training in all aspects and surgery of Otolaryngology and especially in Head and Neck and Thyroid surgery (worked as Senior registrar - Head and Neck cancer centre, UCL hospital, London) and in Paediatric Otolaryngology (completed Paediatric ENT Fellowship, Evelina Children’s hospital, St Thomas' hospital, London for a year).

I am very well trained to perform all aspects of ENT Surgery in Adults and Children. I am trained to performed a new and less invasive technique of performing Tonsillectomy (Intracapsular coblation technique) which has quicker recovery rate (5-7 days Versus upto 14 days) with minimal post operative bleeding (< 0.5% Versus upto 4%) in conventional techniques of performing Tonsillectomy. Besides English, I am also proficient in Hindi and Urdu language.

I am Clinical Lead for Paediatrics ENT, as well as designated Head and Neck and Thyroid Surgeon at Queen's hospital, Romford. I am also named clinician for Children and Young person at the BHR Trust. Managerially, I have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in NHS Healthcare Leadership (Open University) with Merit award and also have completed Leadership and Management course.

In addition to my clinical work, I have also completed two higher research degrees as follows:- MSc – University of Warwick, UK Masters in Surgery (Otolaryngology) – University of Delhi, India I have also published several peer reviewed publications and have presented at several national and international meetings.

I have received following awards: 1. The Honorable mention award: for my study entitled, "Systematic Review of the Role of Serum PTH and Calcium Levels in Predicting Hypocalcaemia in Post-Thyroidectomy Patients to Facilitate Early Discharge". The American head and neck society conference, 21 – 25th July, 2012, Toronto, Canada. 2. The Poster of merit award: for my poster entitled, "Level six neck dissection for thyroid cancer – is its morbidity justified?” The American head and neck society conference, Arizona, USA, 30th – 31st May 2009. 3. Merit award: Post Graduate Certificate in NHS Healthcare Leadership, NHS Leadership Academy and Open University, UK awarded September 2016.

I love teaching and besides completing "Training the Trainers" course, I have been invited as a teaching faculty member on the following courses:- 1. Imperial CESR workshop, St Mary’s Hospital, London, 4th February 2017. 2. FRCS (ORL-HNS) course, University Hospital Lewisham, London 11th Nov 2016. 3.Thames SPR training day, FRCS(ORL-HNS) viva practice, Evelina Children’s hospital, 06th Nov 2015. 4. St Thomas MRCS revision course (OSCE), London, 09th September 2015. Received excellent feedback. 5. Emergency airway study day, Whippscross hospital, London 21st June 2013. 6.
