I am a consultant general surgeon. I have broad general surgical training in both open and laparoscopic surgery and advanced skills in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gallbladder disease, groin hernia repair, abdominal wall hernia repair including incisional hernia repair. I am also fully trained to perform anti-reflux operations for gastro-oesophageal reflux (GORD).
I am skilled in advanced laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer and perform approximately two thirds of resections using this developed technique. I am a fully trained endoscopist in both upper and lower gastro-intestinal endoscopy. My training has reduced patient recovery time for major abdominal operations.
My hernia series runs to over 1,500 inguinal hernias performed laparoscopically across the NHS and private sectors utilising up to date TEPP and TAPP techniques.
I have one of the biggest series of incisional/ventral hernia repairs for umbilical, paraumbilical and incisional hernia, over 400 cases at the end of 2013 which have been reviewed by peer review groups both nationally and internationally.
