I have been qualified for almost six years working solely in sport and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
I started working as an intern with the 1st team of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and here I learnt key principles of sport rehabilitation and physiotherapy at an elite level. I then worked at Leyton Orient Football Club as the Lead Academy Physiotherapist and with the help of a small team lead the academy medical team and department. I was responsible mainly for the 16-18 year olds covering all matches and completing their gym and field rehabilitation for all injuries but also would manage the care for 9-16 year olds too, dealing with a lot of injuries related to growth and typical sports injuries seen in these age groups. I then moved away from sport into private practice where I could apply my knowledge and experience from sport to treating patients in the general public with a high standard of rehabilitation.
I saw a large variety of patient demographics and injuries and broadened my MSK physiotherapy skills. I learned how to treat with acupucture, Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), Neuromuscular and Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) and am soon to learn ultrasound treatment too.
I am more specialised in lower limb rehab given my background in football, especially knees then ankles and hips and soft tissue injuries around these areas. With this comes specialism with sport/trauma related injuries and the physiotherapy management and rehabilitation of them. Equally the same principles of physiotherapy and rehabilitation can be applied to upper limb injuries which I now have good experience with, e.g. shoulder dislocations, tennis elbow, fractures, soft tissue injuries typically mostly seen in shoulder, wrist and elbow.
I have now built a very strong orthopaedic specialism through many years of experience with the rehabilitation of post-operative patients. These include surgeries such as knee arthroscopies, ACL reconstructions, meniscus repairs, ankle ligament reconstruction, metal work with fractures, total knee, hip and shoulder replacements, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder stabilisations, subacromial decompressions, capsular release, lumbar spine decompression, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion and steroid injections.
Lastly, through seeing a vast amount of patients in the general public I now have great experience dealing with patients suffering from more chronic issues and pain with conditions such as osteoarthritis and degenerative pain.
