I have been a Consultant Cardiologist at Whipps Cross/BartsHealth NHS Trusts, London, UK since 1999. After completing my undergraduate medical degree at St.George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1988 I went onto specialised clinical training in Cardiology at St. Bartholomew’s, King’s College and St. George’s Hospitals, London.
I have been involved in the research area of ‘inflammation and heart disease’ and was awarded a British Heart Foundation (BHF) research fellowship as part of his MD thesis. Author of text-book, over 50 peer-published papers and editorials and several book chapters.
I have Chaired and sat on several international, national and local committees. This includes European CVD Prevention Committee, DoH CV Advisory Board, BHF Ethnic Strategy Group, BHF Hospital Care Committee, NWL CCG Board, Trustee Education for Health, Solutions for Health, Chair WX Education/Research Trust and ongoing Clinical Lead Refugee Doctors/Clinical Observership Programme. Involvement in several projects with NHS London/Olympics 2012 Health Legacy initiatives.
Education is my passion and I have delivered over 300 invited Guest Lectures at Symposia in over 60 different countries plus numerous voluntary, community and school talks on heart disease awareness. Numerous media appearances over the years.
My clinical interests include all aspects of adult general cardiology, including assessment and treatment of patients with chest pain, dizziness, hypertension palpitations, cardiovascular risk factors and those that merit cardiac health screening.
