I have been working in the field of endocrinology and diabetes since 1997 and was appointed as a consultant in 2006. I look after patients with pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid adrenal disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome, Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, testosterone deficiency etc.

Healthcare delivery is about discussing choices with the patient and assisting him or her to reach the right individual decision about treatment. Where the mutual support of the team members is required to look after the patient, this should be recognised and implemented in a timely fashion.

I have participated in developing endocrine service in BHR Hospitals as well as joint services with neurosurgical colleagues and obstetricians. I have co-authored local guidelines for treatment of thyroid disease in pregnancy and management of hyperparathyroidism. My higher professional training in endocrinology and diabetes was in UCLH, Royal Free and Southampton General Hospitals as well several other district general hospitals. I was appointed as a lead in endocrinology and diabetes in 2012. Since then, the department has established several specialist clinics and started the community diabetes service which has received an award.

My app, 'Diabetes Nurse' has been published in Google Play and Apple’s App Store this year. The app gives general advice about insulin as well as specific advice on use of all the insulin and GLP-1 injection devices (pens) that are used in the UK and US. The feedback for the app has been very encouraging and several hospitals have shown interest to use it for staff and patient training.

I am a member of several multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) including adrenal, thyroid and neurosurgical. I occasionally work as a peer reviewer for medical journals and as a selector for the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting. I am a member of London Obesity Consensus Group.
