I am currently practicing as a substantive NHS Consultant Rheumatologist at BHR University Hospitals NHS Trust / King George Hospital, Ilford, Essex.
I graduated from The University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1992 and then undertook my junior doctor training in Sri Lanka. I gained my first NHS experience at the Royal Free Hospital, London in elderly care medicine. I joined my current hospital as a Junior Rheumatologist in 2005 and progressed to become a substantive Consultant Rheumatologist, having obtained GMC specialist registration in Rheumatology.
I regularly keep myself up to date with the latest evidence in Rheumatology so that I can provide my patients with the best possible care.
My current practice involves looking after patients with all aspects of general rheumatology including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, vasculitis osteoporosis, gout and connective tissue diseases such as SLE and Sjogren's syndrome.
I am also interested in soft tissue rheumatism which includes conditions such as tendinitis, ligament sprain, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, bursitis, fasciitis and fibromyalgia.
I am heavily involved in teaching medical students, registrars and GP trainees and I am an examiner for the MBBS medical degree at Barts and the London medical school. I teach joint injection techniques for local GPs, rheumatology nurse specialists and physiotherapists.

Personal profile
I am a musician, mainly interested in western classical music. I play the guitar at a professional level and have performed with renowned Sri Lankan singers that have come on tour to perform in the UK.
I enjoy watching cricket, it is a sport which I used to play in my younger days.
