MA, MD, FRCP

Specialises in

  • Diagnosis of tremor
  • Deep brain stimulation for movement disorders

I am a Consultant Neurologist practising on Wednesdays at Spire London East Hospital. After qualifying in 1989 at Cambridge University and working on a medical rotation at Manchester Royal Infirmary, I undertook specialist training in neurology on the North Thames rotation and at the National Hospital, Queen's Square, where I was awarded the Ralph Noble Prize for my MD thesis. I took up my consultant post in 2001 and was subsequently elected FRCP in 2004.

Since working as a consultant, I have gained a wealth of clinical experience in my NHS practices at King George Hospital, Ilford, Essex, and at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. I also hold an Honorary Senior Lecture post at Queen Mary College, London, where I set up an electrophysiological research laboratory to investigate motor control and the pathophysiology of movement disorders.

As well as a broad background in general neurology, I have particular experience in the management of movement disorders, such as Parkinsonism, tremor and dystonia, and in the treatment of movement disorders, chronic pain and refractory epilepsy with neurostimulation devices. I also specialise in the management of stroke, headache and vertigo.
