“From the minute we start work we are faced with a variety of interesting challenges, and communication with patients is one of the most important parts of successful nursing. No matter what else we are doing in our busy day, the patient always comes first.
Here at Little Aston our consultants perform a range of procedures- from joint replacement to cosmetic surgery; no matter which operation a patient has had they are cared for by our team to a very high standard. Our consultants have a brilliant reputation throughout the region and further a field and it isn’t unusual for us to be treating patients from the other side of the country and sometimes the other side of the world.
Our clinical standards are at the heart of what we do and we recently received a ‘good’ rating from the CQC (Care Quality Commission) which we are hugely proud of. Our patients let us know how we’re doing through a Patient Satisfaction Survey. 100% of our self pay patients would recommend us to family or friends– and that’s what counts, to know that our patients would feel confident recommending their nearest and dearest to be cared for by us.
Recently, I had the privilege of caring for a patient with anxiety and concerns about her treatment. She was very emotional about being in hospital and trusting both nurses and consultants. Spending time with this patient and helping her through her short journey with us was so rewarding. The simple aspect of spending time with her and ensuring she knew whather care plan was, and reassuring both her and her family members made a real difference to her state of mind and her stay with us became a positive one.
We have a sense of pride in the hospital – all of our patient rooms have been recently refurbished and really do have that Five Star Hotel feel about them –while the theatres and Chemotherapy Suite make you realise you are part of a very forward-facing, high tech hospital.
A lot of patients who visit Spire Little Aston pay for their own treatment, many others have privatemedical insurance and we also take NHS patients under the Choose and Book system. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that all are treated exactly the same.
If you are a patient at Spire Little Aston Hospital you are going to get the best treatment we can possibly provide – I’m proud of working for Spire Little Aston and so are the people I work with.
We’re a winning team and happy, satisfied and healthy patients are what we are always aiming for.”
