Consultant cardiologist Dr Rajesh Chelliah on the topic of Angina
We welcome your views on our website and invite you to take part in a brief survey when you've finished your visit.
Your response will help us improve the site and the experience we offer to visitors.
We aim to carry out all the investigations needed at your first appointment
What can I expect?
Immediately after undertaking an initial examination with one of our consultant breast surgeons, any further imaging or diagnostic tests necessary to assess the lump are carried out. The imaging procedure, usually ultrasound or mammography, is undertaken by a consultant radiologist in our clean and comfortable radiology department. Scan results are reported on there and then and returned straight to your consultant to review. If any abnormality is found on the scan, a biopsy, (a fine needle aspiration or core biopsy) will be carried out by the consultant in clinic.
Throughout your visit a specialist breast care nurse will be available to provide you with support and information. On completion of any investigations your consultant will spend time with you, talking you through their findings, answering any questions and discussing any concerns you may have.
