I am a fellowship trained Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant currently working in a busy hand, shoulder and elbow service which includes general and complex upper limb trauma referrals, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
My practice philosophy is to help guide each of my individual patients’ to make the best, informed treatment decision for them. I use techniques to accelerate functional return to work, sports, and recreational activities.
I completed a British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) funded Shoulder and Elbow, Hand, and Trauma Fellowship in Perth, Australia after completing my orthopaedic training in Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Northeast of England. I hold a medical degree and Doctor of Medicine (MD) higher research degree in orthopaedics from the University of Edinburgh.
I have previously been the Trauma & Orthopaedic Training Lead at NHS Forth Valley and continue to supervise and train orthopaedic trainees. I examine for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In addition, I am a medical appraiser at NHS Forth Valley. I have recentIy been appointed the Upper Limb Orthopaedic in house clinician for The British Standards Institute (BSI).

Personal profile
I live with my wife and two teenage children. When not at work I can be found at the stables supporting my daughter’s equestrian passion. I continue to play hockey competitively with my son for a local club.Though, I have to accept that he is a better hockey player than I am. Now, more so that ever, I appreciate the value of physical fitness and am keen to help my patients maintain their sporting activities and recreational.
