I am a Consultant Neurosurgeon with additional fellowship training in spinal surgery and functional neurosurgery.

I undertook my neurosurgical training in Bristol, Plymouth and Sheffield. I then completed a Complex Spinal Fellowship in Leeds, training with both Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spinal Surgeons.
I was awarded the Norman Dott Medal in 2014 for the highest mark achieved in the FRCS Neurosurgery exam. As part of this award I visited the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, Arizona on a travelling fellowship.
I currently teach surgical approaches to the spine on courses in England and Scotland. I have multiple publications in the field of spinal surgery and functional neurosurgery, including papers in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and online learning modules. I have presented at international conferences in Europe and North America as well as invited lectures in Australia.
I work as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Edinburgh and have a subspecialty interest in spinal surgery. I have expertise in the management of spinal degenerative disease, disc prolapse, and tumours, as well as more complex conditions such as spinal trauma and instability.
