I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in The Edinburgh Colorectal Unit in 2002 and have been the Lead Clinician of the Unit since 2004. I qualified from St Thomas' Hospital in London and trained in General Surgery and Coloproctology in London and the South East. I undertook a 15 month fellowship in Advanced Colorectal Surgery and Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery in Sydney and Brisbane prior to coming to Edinburgh.

My practice encompasses all areas of colorectal surgery. The only general surgical procedures I undertake are open hernia surgery and the removal of minor skin lumps.

I work in Spire Shawfair Park's endoscopy suite which holds JAG accreditation.

I have a particular interest in colonoscopy, day case and minimal access surgery, open hernia repair, colorectal cancer screening and treatment as well as the treatment of functional and inflammatory bowel disease.
