Professional profile

Availability - by arrangement. No new patients. Review appointments only.

After return from East Africa in 1982 I co-founded HealthLink360, a health care charity, located near Edinburgh, providing whole person health care for expatriates working with voluntary agencies in the developing world. I was Medical Director 1983-2006 and am now Honorary Consultant Physician. I set up a public access Travel Clinic for the charity in 2004.

I was Editor of the quarterly journal Tropical Doctor, published by the Royal Society of Medicine 1995-2002, and have edited the vaccination and anti-malarial prophylaxis pages of the GP newspaper Pulse since 1994.

I lecture widely on HIV, infectious Diseases and tropical medicine, and internationally on Travel Medicine. After being invited to become a Founder Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at RCPS Glasgow in 2006, I was asked to chair the Examination Committee in 2007, and was elected Vice Dean in 2009 and Dean in 2012; Where I am encouraging international links and educational development, and enjoy chairing a skilled and enthusiastic Board.

Over the past 20 years I have maintained links with Malawi and particularly Zambia, and from 2003-9 made five visits to Zambia supporting the roll out of ART with the Lothian-Zambia HIV/AIDS Partnership.
