I am an Ophthalmic Surgeon, based in Edinburgh. Please note I do not see paediatric patients privately.

I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon based in Edinburgh. I specialise in all aspects of modern cataract surgery including standard and premium lens implants to reduce spectacle dependence. My patient safety and visual outcomes consistently exceed UK national standards.

In the public sector, I hold a key role in providing specialist paediatric ophthalmic services at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, delivering expert care for complex eye conditions in children. At the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, I am actively involved in the training of junior ophthalmologists and my academic work has been widely published in peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals. My expertise also extends to strabismus treatment, providing corrective surgery to improve eye alignment and visual function. My practice is known for its patient-centred approach, ensuring high-quality outcomes across both adult and paediatric cases.

Originally from South Africa, I completed my primary medical degree before relocating to the UK in 2003. I began my career in general surgical specialties before undertaking specialist ophthalmic training in Edinburgh. Following the successful completion of my training, I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2014 and later pursued an overseas fellowship in complex paediatric cataract and strabismus surgery. In 2015, I took up my NHS consultant post within NHS Lothian, where I have been instrumental in delivering specialist ophthalmic care to the region.

My private practice is based at Spire Shawfair Park Hospital, where I have been providing personalised, high-quality ophthalmic care since 2016. My approach combines clinical excellence with a friendly, compassionate, tailored service that addresses the unique needs of each patient.
