I'm a senior Consultant Ophthalmologist, Cataract and Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon in the NHS at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital in Sheffield. My areas of expertise include cataract surgery, including premium intraocular lens implants, and retinal surgery, including retinal detachment, macular surgery and advanced diabetic eye disease.

I graduated from the University of Cambridge MB PhD Programme in 1997 with a distinction in Medicine and a PhD in Molecular Biology. I completed my Ophthalmology residency training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK where I also undertook Fellowship training in both Vitreo-Retinal Surgery (2007-2008) and Medical Retina (2008), before being appointed as a Consultant and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Sheffield in 2009.

During my career I have been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists McCartney Prize. I obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and am a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. I am also a member of the British & Eire Association of Vitreo-Retinal Surgeons and International Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

I have published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and has co-authored book chapters on Cataract Surgery and Retinal Detachment. I am committed to teaching and training and is Educational Supervisor and currently College Tutor for Ophthalmology trainees in Sheffield and have been Undergraduate Teaching Lead at the University of Sheffield. In addition, I am a Microsurgical Skills Faculty Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London and maintain an active role in clinical research in vitreo-retinal surgery.
