Specialises in
I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the NHS at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital with a long-established private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital.
I was one of the early adopters of modern small incision cataract surgery in the UK introducing the technique to Sheffield, some 20 years ago. I was also responsible for training many local eye surgeons and was instrumental in developing local day case cataract surgery in the NHS and private sector.
My other sub-specialty interest is Glaucoma and recently was the first in the UK to introduce Trabectome minimally invasive surgery for glaucoma both alone and combined with cataract extraction. I regularly lecture on a national basis on this technique.
I am a past council member of the UK & Ireland Cataract & Refractive Surgery Society and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I have publications predominantly in cataract and glaucoma.
