Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist based in Cambridge with over 30 years’ experience in women’s health, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of benign and cancer-related gynaecological conditions. I practise privately at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital and hold a substantive NHS consultant position at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, where I have worked since 2006.
My clinical practice focuses on providing personalised, evidence-based care for women experiencing symptoms such as menstrual irregularities, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, and suspected or confirmed gynaecological cancer. I have a particular specialist interest in vulval disease, cervical abnormalities, and complex gynaecological oncology, supported by an active research profile and international reputation in vulval cancer and pre-cancer.
I trained in obstetrics and gynaecology in London and East Anglia and was awarded my Doctor of Medicine (MD) by the University of London. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG), and I remain actively involved in teaching and training future specialists through my role leading the subspecialty training programme in gynaecological oncology.
I specialise in a broad range of gynaecological investigations and treatments, including colposcopy for abnormal cervical screening results, outpatient hysteroscopy, laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and hysterectomy for both benign and cancer-related conditions. I also provide assessment and management for ovarian cysts, pelvic masses, menopause-related symptoms and cancer risk reduction strategies, including screening and HPV vaccination advice.
A key part of my practice is advanced minimally invasive surgery. I am experienced in both traditional and laparoscopic techniques, as well as robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci system. Robotic-assisted surgery allows for highly precise procedures, often resulting in reduced pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery for patients.
In addition to surgical care, I offer expert diagnostic services and second opinions for complex or uncertain cases.
My international experience includes working as a consultant in New Zealand, where I contributed to the development of cancer services for the middle and lower North Island. This has broadened my perspective on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across different healthcare systems.
