I have been an Orthopaedic specialist since 2007 and a consultant locally since 2017. I am an expert in hip and knee surgery and have further subspecialist training in children's orthopaedics. This attention to detail and soft tissue handling techniques have pushed me towards tissue preserving techniques such as the Direct Anterior Approach to the hip. I also use the latest technologies for robot assisted joint replacement surgery, or personalised implants.
I specialise in hip and knee replacement surgery, arthroplasty and preservation when possible. I also repair, release and reconstruct ligaments around the hips and knee, and keyhole surgery including cruciate (ACL) reconstructions, with a focus on sports injuries and trauma.
I have an interest in lower limb biomechanics and perform realignment osteotomies for poorly united fractures and miserable malalignment syndrome.
In my private and NHS practice I perform approximately 200 hip and knee replacements and 50 keyhole procedures and ACL reconstructions per year. I perform approximately 30 bone realignment procedures (osteotomies) per year.
I am a member of UK societies and have been involved in national committees for generating national guidelines and consensus statements, as well as running national and local specialty courses.
I am a clinical lead in my local NHS Trust, having previously had audit and governance roles and remain College Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons.

I spend my off time with my wife and three children, and our Tibetan Terrier, Dotty.
My 15 year old daughter’s specialist subject is rabbits, and I have recently put my orthopaedic skills to good use, by building a rabbit palace(!) in the garden, complete with three runs on each side of the shed, sorry palace, to make sure they always have shade available. The same teenage builder’s apprentice, assures me Skipper and GERTI are now very happy rabbits.
