Mr Evangelos Gkougkousis
Consultant Urological Surgeon
MD, FEBU, PhD
"I really love working at Spire Lea Hospital in Cambridge. The Hospital is very well equipped and organised but most of all, I enjoy the team spirit and the overall commitment to patient care."
I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon for seven years and I am an expert in the management of prostatic hyperplasia and renal stones. I have been using lasers for prostatic surgery since 2004 and have extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery.
I specialise in the management of urinary dysfunction and renal stones. I use both the Green Light Laser and HOLEP for prostatic surgery and the vast majority of patients are able to be discharged a few hours after their procedure.
I also have a special interest in general Urology and offer treatment for urinary infections, testicular pain, urinary dysfunction and incontinence. The range of procedures I offer include circumcision, frenuloplasty, hydrocoele repair, orchidectomy, epididymectomy, endoscopic examination of the bladder, urodynamic studies, vasectomy, removal of epididymal cysts and insertion of extra-anatomic stents.
To date I have performed hundreds of laser prostatectomies and a very large number of procedures for urinary stones, both in various NHS hospitals and in private practice.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Evangelos Gkougkousis at Spire include:
