I have extensive experience in skin surgery, including removal of skin cancers and benign skin lesions, and of both photodynamic therapy and cryotherapy for precancerous skin lesions and other disorders.
I have a longstanding interest in the use of ultraviolet light phototherapy for skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema/dermatitis, skin lymphoma and vitiligo, and have led this service at Addenbrookes for many years.
I carried out my undergraduate training at Cambridge and St George’s Hospital Medical School, followed by general medical training at the Royal London Hospital and then dermatology training at St John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin and the Institute of Dermatology in London. I have been a Consultant Dermatologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital since 1991 and have worked to develop a high class service for patients in both the public and private health sectors.
I have wide experience of general dermatology, including conditions such as acne, eczema, dermatitis, and vitiligo. My main areas of interest are; skin cancer diagnosis and screening (including mole checks), use of dermoscopy in skin cancer diagnosis, assessment of sun-damaged skin, treatment of skin cancer and pre-cancer with photodynamic therapy and psoriasis and photosensitive skin disorders.
