Professional profile

I graduated from the University of Duesseldorf, Germany but undertook my clinical general medical training in the UK. I trained in Neurology at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, as well as the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London. I was awarded a PhD for my work on the genetics of multiple sclerosis from the University of Cambridge. I currently work as a Neurology consultant at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn and Papworth Hospital. I have wide experience in the management of general neurology patients, including headache, pain, epilepsy, dementia, Parkinsons Disease, neuropathies and multiple sclerosis.

I have a subspecialty interest in neurogenetics, and conduct several clinics for hereditary neurological disorders. These include national clinics for neurofibromatosis and ataxia telangiectasia, where I contribute to the development of management guidelines and research. I have medicolegal experience since 2009 and currently receive an average of thirty instructions per year. I am actively involved in the training of regional neurology trainees and give regular talks to other doctors, including GPs.
