Employee’s legacy will be long lasting.

13 June 2016

Goodbyes are always a sombre occasion for anyone, more so when you’ve spent twenty eight years working at one establishment. Today we sadly have to say goodbye to a truly great employee. Ms Louise Daniels can best be described as a corner stone to our hospital, the beating heart of the building and now a lifelong friend to many of those who were fortunate enough to work alongside her.

Louise Daniels outside the South West's Largest private hospital, Spire Bristol Hospital

Louise has decided to retire from her latest post as Clinical Governance Lead for personal reasons. Many of her colleagues know that Louise is one of the few ‘Glen originals’ and was here right from the start when the hospital opened. From 1988, her roles have varied at Spire Bristol Hospital. She started out as an outpatient nurse and through her dedication, commitment and personal sacrifices she became an inspiring leader of what is now, a long standing Bristol hospital. During her time at the hospital she has undertaken the following roles:

  • Outpatient nurse
  • Outpatient team leader
  • Endoscopy lead nurse
  • Outpatient manager
  • Acting Matron
  • Physio, Outpatient, Endoscopy, Xray, Pharmacy lead
  • Acting Matron
  • Theatre and Outpatient manager
  • Deputy Matron
  • Matron/Clinical Services Manager
  • CNS: Governance Lead

As you can see, she has worked in virtually all the clinical departments of the hospital and her penultimate role as Matron came at a time of enormous change in the way we manage patient safety in the acute healthcare setting. She played a significant part in developing systems which form the foundation of our evidence for CQC today. Her knowledge and experience to this day is echoed in almost every department here in the hospital and we know that Louise’s legacy will pave the way for the future of our hospital.

On behalf of the Spire Bristol Hospital, our employees and patients we would like to wish Louise much happiness and fulfilment in the future.

Louise Daniels, Thank you.
