I am a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, with many years of specialist endocrinology and diabetes experience. My sub-specialty interests include diabetes management (including insulin pump therapy, type 2 diabetes, and antenatal diabetes), medical weight management, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, pituitary and adrenal disorders, reproductive endocrinology, male hypogonadism, transition endocrinology and late effects . I am committed to providing evidence-based, personalized care, combining expertise in complex endocrine disorders, along with utilisation of the latest advances in diabetes technology.
I hold several leadership roles within the NHS, including leading the Late Effects and Transition Endocrinology Service at University Hospitals Sussex, serving as a core member of the Sussex Pituitary Multidisciplinary Team, and establishing the Trust's Complex Endocrine Case Meeting. I have contributed to national and international clinical guidelines in diabetes and endocrinology. I am passionate about medical education and am actively involved as a teacher, examiner and a research supervisor at Brighton & Sussex Medical School, as well as an educational and clinical supervisor for postgraduate trainees.
I have a strong academic interest in diabetes and endocrinology and have authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals, including the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, Diabetic Medicine, Kidney International Reports, and Diabetologia. My research interests include diabetes technology, endocrine disorders in pregnancy, pituitary disease, parathyroid disorders, adrenal disorders and diabetes management in complex medical settings. I act as a peer reviewer for international endocrine journals, including the South Asian Journal of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism and BMC Endocrinology.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, traveling around the world to new destinations, gardening and cooking. I believe that maintaining a good work - life balance is important and helps me bring energy, focus and compassion to my clinical practice.
